The Greatest Challenge
What is the greatest challenge you face as the spiritual leader in your home? Do you feel that you have been taught how to meet that challenge? If so, who taught you? If not, where are you looking for the answers?

The following was written by William Wilberforce (the movie Amazing Grace) in 1797. It describes many homes in 2009 as well.
"Yet, is it not undeniable that with the Bible in our houses, we are ignorant of its contents; and that hence, in a great measure, it arises, that the bulk of the Christian world know so little, and mistake so greatly, in what regards the religion which they profess." A Practical View of Christianity, p. 7.
What do you think the impact on our families is?
What do you think fathers can do to change this?

SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP BASICS
Dad - Here is a thought to chew on for a while.
You are in the best position to teach your children about God.
Have you ever thought about that? How important is it? Where can I learn how to do that? What does that mean? You may have been a dad for many years and never thought about this before. Maybe you think about it a lot, and it makes you sweat.
Consider the words of J.W. Alexander in his book Thoughts on Family Worship, written in 1858.
"There is no member of a household whose individual piety is of such importance to all the rest, as the father…Where the head of a family is lukewarm…he will send a chill through the whole house; and if any happy exception occur, and one and another surpass him in faithfulness, it will be in spite of his…example."
So, how well are you leading?

FEAST OR FAMINE?
What is meal time like at your house? Is it a feast or is there a famine?
Can you imagine if your family ate only one meal a week? They would die in a short amount of time.
The same concept applies to their spiritual health. If we think that church for one hour a week will feed our clan, then we are mistaken.
The prophet Amos talks about what we are experiencing in our country today.
"The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD, "when I will send a famine throughout the land - not a famine of food or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD. Men will stagger from sea to sea and wander from north to east, searching for the word of the LORD, but they will not find it."
Dad, in your house it there a feast going on or is this a season of a famine of the hearing of the words of the LORD?
How about posting a reply? Let's figure this one out together.
